Review: Romemadecandles’ ‘King in the North’ mini candle

Almost a month ago, there was a Bookstagram Meetup in Utrecht, The Netherlands, where bookstagrammers and bookish shops gathered in the local library. Naturally, I bought ALOT 😂 As I didn’t buy from them on their Etsy, I wasn’t able to leave a review there. So I’ll just post them here 🙂

The first item I’m reviewing is the ‘King in the North’ mini candle (40ml) by Romemadecandles! It is based on the serie Game of Thrones. Check out their Etsy for candles in more sizes and themed boxes!

My first impression of this candle was very good. The candle is a dark grey, which really complements the theme of House Stark. When I took off the lid, I saw really cute silver glitters on top of the wax that, I think, represent snow.

The background of the label is an image of a forest covered in snow. It really makes me think of some of the scenes around Winterfell. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was a shot from the series 😛

The scent combination is cedar, amber and sandalwood. The first time I smelled the candle, I wasn’t sure I liked it. So I smelled all the other candles atleast five times to return to this one and fell in love (Perks of meeting the shop owners with their products in real life!). It is hard to explain how this combination feels, but it definitely reflects how Winterfell would smell. A well done scent!

This candle is really well done. All the details do justice to the theme & I’ll enjoy every second of it burning (whenever I find the courage to light it..) The size is perfect if you want to try the scent, but don’t wanna spend too much money on it. The service was amazing and the shop owners are real darlings. Extra points for their patience with me , because I couldn’t choose which candles I wanted to buy.
