July 2018 Wrap-Up!

July has been a very lucky and good month. I have reached several milestones and I am very proud of them.
First of all, I finished and went over my Goodreads Reading Challenge of 15 books and I think I will be able to reach the 30 mark later aswell.
Also, I made a post regarding #bookpiracy with tips and ways to get books and avoid pirating. This post has been a real boost to my blog and it has been by far my most viewed post. It got me quite some followers in a few days aswell (from ~70 to ~110, currently 141 even).
Besides that all, I reached 2.5k followers on Twitter! I had that before, but I fell back to 2.3k after the Twitter account purge some weeks ago. I am very proud to have earned those followers back!
But the milestone I am most happy about is that during said spike in views and followers on my blog, I received an e-mail with a request to read and review a book. I was so happy! I have got an EPUB file in my mail and will read it on my trip to London!

Towards the end of July, an amazing tag arose on Twitter: #bookishwish. Long story short, the tag is meant to share your bookish wishlist or grant people their wishes(For more information, check out Bookdragism’s post about it!)
Besides sharing my own wishlist, I have been retweeting and boosting people their wishists, giveaways and whatnot on Twitter. It helped people get their wishes granted and I am so happy!
For myself, I was able to get a copy of Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi from @laidbackreader through #buyastrangerabook day, @mklangley granted my wish for a copy of Vicious and This Savage Song and this other girl (I can’t find her name, sadly) offered that if she could find an extra copy of Furyborn soon, she could bring it to a signing of Clair LeGrand and send me a signed copy! I am very grateful for these people. I really am.
I don’t have books to send out or a ton of money, but I will try to do a giveaway later to return the favour of all the love to the community. This tag truly restored my faith in humanity!

For reading July was a good month aswell. I have read an entire trilogy plus some short stories back to back, I read a decent amount of titles and of all the books in my haul this month I only bought two! And more are on the way from giveaways I won earlier and the #bookishwish tag. It is going well with my semi-bookban and I am proud!

Let’s wrap-up my July and look forward to everything during August!

Books I have read this month

A Darker Shade of Magic (Shades of Magic #1) by V.E. Schwab (My review)

What an amazing read! I ordered the other two books in the trilogy before I was completely done reading this. I am already fan of V.E. Schwab’s work!

A Wizard of Earthsea (Earthsea Cycle #1) by Ursula K. Le Guin ★★★★✩ (My review)

I absolutely loved this story. It is oldschool fantasy, it has wizards, magic, dragons, everything I loved. I was surprised to find out it was a children’s book though!

Shadow and Bone (The Grisha Trilogy #1) by Leigh Bardugo ★★★★✩ (My review)
Siege and Storm (The Grisha Trilogy #2) by Leigh Bardugo ★★★★★ (My review)
The Tailor (The Grisha Trilogy #1.5) by Leigh Bardugo ★★★★✩ (My review)
Ruin and Rising (The Grisha Trilogy #3) by Leigh Bardugo ★★★★★ (My review)
The Demon In The Wood (The Grisha Trilogy #0.1) by Leigh Bardugo ★★★★✩ (My review)

I have been very busy reading the Grisha Trilogy and I was so happy to find out my copies of the books were the special editions including the short stories! I have enjoyed this trilogy thoroughly and I am glad I finally read it. I am currenlty re-reading the Six of Crows duology with a whole new perspective on the universe after reading the trilogy and, ofcourse, to prepare for King of Scars next year!

Reign of the Fallen (Reign of the Fallen #1) by Sarah Glenn Marsh

Someone on Twitter gave away free books from anonymous dDSC_0870 (2)onaters to marginalized teens. All the titles on that list had a LGBT+ or other kinds of minority rep or main characters. She wanted you to choose a title that represented you the most. I chose for this one as the main character is bi-sexual, like I am. Something I really like about this copy is that it is an ARC! I know the book released last January but it is still quite unique to own an ARC print.

A Gathering of Shadows (Shades of Magic #2) by V.E. Schwab
A Conjuring of Light (Shades of Magic #3) by V.E. Schwab

Like I said earlier, I already ordered these before I was really done with book one. I am really excited to read them, as I heard V.E. Schwab is bringing out more books and even comics in this universe!

Traveler (Traveler #1) by L.E. Delano
Dreamer (Traveler #2) by L.E. DeLano

I won these two books in a giveawy by L.E. DeLano herself and these are signed to me! I won more goodies in the same giveaway and I made a post showing all the items.

Among US by Kristina Rienzie

Someone approached me with a review request of this book! It is a new adult Sci-Fi thriller and the story seems promising! They emailed me the e-book and I am looking forward to reading it on my trip to London.

Next month’s TBR

August won’t be such a good reading month as July was. I am going to London for a few days and I am just bringing my e-reader. Later in August, I will be staying with my boyfriend for a bit. But the reason most of my time is going to be lost is that the newest expansion of World of Warcraft will release August 14th and I am so excited!

Six of Crows (Six of Crows #1) by Leigh Bardugo
Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows #2) by Leigh Bardugo

I am re-reading this duology with the brand-new perspective I got after reading The Grisha Trilogy and in preperation to King of Scars next Winter. I will be updating y’all on the experience through Twitter!

The Cruel Prince (Folk of the Air #1) by Holly Black

I tried reading this during July, but I only got to page 24. I don’t want to abandon this book just yet, so I am giving it another chance in August!

The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo

This book, together with Wonder Woman: Warbringer and a short story called The Too-Clever Fox are the only books by Leigh Bardugo I haven’t read yet! But Wonder Woman: Warbringer is on it’s way, I am excited!

Unknown title from the August ‘Oh So Criminal,’ Illumicrate

The title isn’t confirmed, but I have a really good idea which book might be in the box and I will scream if I am right! When I recieve my box, I will do a full unboxing on here and on Instagram and will tell you all if I were right. Stay tuned!

Anticipated new releases of next month

August is an amazing month regarding new releases, though my bankaccount is less happy. I am looking forward to reading each and every one of these titles soon, especially the sequel of Wicked Like A Wildfire by Lana Popović as I read the book a year ago and that ending has left me wondering!

A Dance of Thieves (A Dance of Thieves #1) by Mary E. Pearson (August 7th 2018)

Ever since I read about this book coming out, I have been counting down the days to it’s release. I wasn’t able to pre-order it, but I am certain I will get my hands on it this month!

Catwoman: Soulstealer (DC Icons #3) by Sarah J. Maas (August 7th 2018)

I have actually pre-ordered this book as I love Sarah J. Maas her writing so much, not because I love Catwoman (I am more of a Marvel girl tbh). I have a copy of Wonder Woman: Warbringer on it’s way in the same order!

Fierce Like A Firestorm (Hibiscus Daughter #2) by Lana Popović (August 21st 2018)

I got the first installment of the series in the August 2017 Fairyloot, Wicked Like A Wildfire, and I have been waiting for the sequel ever since! It was such a cool book with an interesting take on magic. Towards the end the book became a little dark and I loved it!

City of Ghosts (Cassidy Blake #1) by Victoria Schwab (August 28th 2018)

I have followed Schwab for some time, long before I actually read a book of hers. I saw her announcing this book, the first installment of a new series and I am honestly so excited!

  2. Great wrap-up post! ❤
I enjoyed reading this post so much and I agree that the #bookwish hashtag is such a cool thing, I still can't believe that there are so many kind bookworms out there.
Your post also made me want to finish the Grisha series, there's so much love for Leigh Bardugo in this wrap-up, haha!
