September was a buys month. School started at the start of the month, been sick two times already and I am still having a hard time balancing my homework with hobbies. Problem is that I love gaming, blogging and reading equally, but I usually hang towards gaming with my boyfriend. I haven’t read much due to all that, skipped posting here sometimes, but regardless of all that I still consider September a good month for me as a blogger!
In September I started the iniative of a new blog series called MEET THE AUTHOR. The idea behind it is to give less famous/indie author a spotlight on my blog. I made a post a couple of weeks ago with more info, you can read it here. I also made a sign-up form, which you can visit here.
I already asked a couple of authors I was reviewing for at that moment and there were a couple that saw my tweet and approached me. I have been working hard for this and I am pleased to say the first one will be online this week! If you don’t want to miss it, all the MTA posts will be up on this page!
Besides the MTA initiative, I have currently a small pile of review copies I am reading, reviewing and going to read and honestly, I am really proud of myself and my little blog that I am able to do this! I am also asking those authors if they want to be featured in an MTA post!
Another small feat was hitting 250 followers out here. Thank you all so much! I posted on Twitter I was only 27 followers away from that goal and expected only a few shares and a handful of new people, but you can’t believe how wrong I was! In less than 2 days, I had 20 RT’s and even surpassed my goal! Let’s see if I can hit 300 in October..
Books I have read this month
I didn’t get to read as much as usual, but I am still proud of reading two ARC’s and getting halfway through another review copy!
Forsaken Genesis (Deluge Prophecies #1) by M.J. Marinescu ★★★★✩
I absolutely loved reading this book. The concept of the story is really cool and I am glad I got to read the e-ARC! The book is out now, so go order a hardback or Kindle ebook here!
Outrun the Wind by Elizabeth Tammi ★★★★✩
This book is one amazing Greek mythology retelling and you should all check it out! Elizabeth said she was thinking about more books in the same universe, so lovers of Greek mythology and fantasy overall should stay tuned! It releases the 27th of October, but you can pre-order it on Bookdepository and Amazon!
The Gilded King (Sovereign #1) by Josie Jaffrey (49%)
I haven’t finished this book yet, but I am about halfway and I am enjoying this book so much! I just had to mention this, as it is a really good book and keeping it in the dark for another month doesn’t do it justice.
I swear, I placed myself on a book buying ban! I pardoned myself for Vengeful and Kingdom of Ash, but I won Kingdom of Ash in a giveway, so I am all set for the time being. The rest of the books are either review copies or free books.
Outrun the Wind by Elizabeth Tammi
Got this book at the start of September and already read it. I am proud.
Children of Blood and Bone (Legacy of Orïsha) by Tomi Adeyemi
I have heard so much good about this book and I was able to get my hands on a copy through the #BuyAStrangerABook tag by @BigGreenShop on Twitter. You should give them a follow, their Tweets are filled with puns, jokes and other entertaining stuff regarding their shop.
Liquid Death (Edinön Trilogy #1) by Mitzi C.
I am so excited for this story, it sounds so good! Few more books, and this one will get its turn.
Bit Grim, Isn’t It by Christopher Galvin
This is a short story bundle with scary stories and I am going to try to read this well before Halloween so the people looking for books to fit the Halloween theme can check it out aswell!
Furyborn (Empirium #1) by Claire Legrand
Okay, so I know I said there were only free books in this section but Vengeful, but I have been wanting a copy of this book for ages and the paperback never got back in stock on Bookdepository. But somehow I got lucky enough to see this book was just €3 in the KOBO store, so now I have got the ebook at the very least! Seriously though, €3 is just a steal, especially if you wanted the book for a while now. I did an sampler review of this book a while back, but I can finally read the whole book when I have worked a bit through my TBR!
God of War: The Official Novelization by J.M Barlog
God of War is a game that is still on my to-play list and usually, I play games like that for the story. As I don’t have time (or money) to play everything, reading novelizations of games or parts of their story is a really good alternative. I was quite
Vengeful (Villains #2) by V.E. Schwab
I got my copy of VENGEFUL last Saturday and it was a pleasant surprise as it wasn’t planned to arrive for another ten days. Why would it take so long? I got it from Amazon DE so it probably had to be shipped over from the US to Germany on release day. I was stubborn and absolutely wanted the US hardback edition of this book to match with my copy of VICIOUS. Amazon DE was the only site that got it without insane shipping or insanely high prices. I could’ve requested a review copy from Titan Books, but matching > free, right?
I am really excited to read this! I read the excerpt last week and put my thoughts in an excerpt review and I will ofcourse let you know if any of my thoughts changes after actually finishing the book!
Next month’s TBR
I am trying something new with planning my TBR and that is doing a TBR tweet! I got the idea from Noura @ ThePerksOfBeingNoura and it fared me well so far! I did one for September/October, but was way too optimistic. I updated it for just October and I think this one is doable. (Still optimistic though!)
Anticipated new releases
I still need to catch up with releases from previous months (OOPS!), but I put myself on a book buying ban so I can catch up with all the unread books I own. I hope this ban will last long enough for me to catch up a bit. This is all excluding review copies, free books and a really nice ebook deal, ofcourse.
Grim Lovelies (Grim Lovelies #1) by Megan Shepherd, October 2nd 2018
I heard really good things about this book. I pre-ordered it early so I would get the pre-order gift tote aswell! I think it will arrive around the same time as the book itself. I am excited!
Kingdom of Ash (Throne of Glass #7) by Sarah J. Maas, October 23rd 2018
I am so excited for this book! 23 days to go! I pushed forward reading Tower of Dawn as I didn’t want the trip to be over so fast, but I kinda closed myself in with other books at this moment, but I will get this done!
