October has been a messy month for me. I had some trouble keeping myself to my posting schedule as I was busy with school, couldn’t sleep so well, felt a bit overwhelmed by my review copies and so many other things that kept me from my blog, which is a shame. I did manage to read four books AND keep myself on my book buying ban, two things to be proud of. I also decided to occasionally post on my bookstagram again without a schedule just for the sake of sharing things I really want to share.
For November I am trying to get back into my posting schedule or atleast two posts per week (I had some weeks I only posted once and it didn’t feel good), but for updates go to my Book Twitter, @EzziesBookshelf!
Books I have read this month
The Gilded King (Sovereign #1) by Josie Jaffrey ★★★★★
I ended up liking this book (and this world) so much more than I originally suspected. I have book two ready here and I look forward to read the Solis Invicti series aswell! Josie has an amazing writing style and a really lovely person aswell. Go check her out!
Vengeful (Villains #2) by V.E. Schwab ★★★★★
I got the first book in this series through the #bookishwish tag and I fell in love with V.E. Schwabs writing even more. Because of this I was so excited for the sequel, you can’t imagine. I can tell you, it lived up to the hype and then some.
A Bit Grim, Isn’t It? by Christopher Galvin ★★★★✩
I got this short story bundle from Christopher himself and I really loved it. Though the stories have different themes, they all live up to the title. It was a really nice break from the huge books I usually read.
Tower of Dawn (Throne of Glass #6) by Sarah J. Maas ★★★★★
After postponing to read this book for so long, I am glad to say I have read it and I regret not reading it sooner. It was such a good read and I loved that other characters besides Aelin got some page time.
I am on a book buying ban and it is actually going great! No books have been bought for over a month and I am very proud. The only books I got this month were review copies,
Grim Lovelies (Grim Lovelies #1) by Megan Shepherd
There was something about this book that made me really excited. Also, pre-ordering this book came with a really nice BLACK tote with a quote about magic. Who doesn’t like that?!
The Silver Queen (Sovereign #2) by Josie Jaffrey
After reviewing book one for Josie, and absolutely loving it, she was kind enough to give me a digital copy of book two. I am really excited to read this!
Fallible Justice (Wilde Investigations #1) by Laura Laakso
When I saw the giveaway for this book, I looked it up on Goodreads. I was hooked after I read the words ‘Old London’ and ‘paranormal races’. I was quite happy that I actually won the early copy of the book! The book will release in a few days on November 8th!
Six of Crows: Collector’s Edition by Leigh Bardugo
Minutes after I saw the announcement of this collector’s edition I pre-ordered it. No regrets and totally worth the wait! I was already planning on rereading the duology before the release of King of Scars and now I can read this gorgeous hardback with art inside. I usually don’t share pictures of the books in my wrap-ups, but I just needed to show this book off. I used the cover as highlighted picture, but I had to add the back and the spine as those are so gorgeous!
The Dark Vault by Victoria Schwab
I want to thank Titan Books for this amazing book. It feels really good to be able to review a book by one of my favourite author! I am in the reviewer mailing list of Titan books and I got an email this book was up for requesting. Even though the demand was really high, what is to be expected with a Schwab book, I was lucky enough to get a copy send to me. It even came with a cute key prop matching the one on the spine!
Heavenward (Celestial Creatures #1) by Olga Gibbs
I was approached by Melanie @ Fraser’s Funhouse if I wanted to participate in the blogtour for this book. I only have done one blogtour before, so I am excited to participate in this one as the book sounds so good aswell.
Kingdom of Ash (Throne of Glass #7) by Sarah J. Maas
This is by far my most anticipated read of this year and I am more than ready to have my heart and soul crushed by this tome.
Next month’s TBR
I am almost done with my review copies and it feels really good. There is only one with a set date as it is for a blog tour, but the rest is on my own pace. November is a no-stress month for me!
Anticipated new releases
Fortunately for my book-buying ban there aren’t any November releases I am really excited for.
